College of Arts and Sciences Grading Systems
Prior to 1960, the college used a 3.00 system: A=3.00; B=2.00; C=1.00; D=0.00; F=0.00. Other grades were E, WF, P, WP, INC.
From 1960 to September 2002, the college used a 4.00 system: A=4.00; B=3.00; C=2.00; D=1.00; F=0.00. Other failing grades were E, U, WF. Pass/Fail grades were noted as S (pass) or U (fail). Non-punitive grades were I, WP, Y.
September 2002 to Present:
A = 4.00
H = 4.00
A- = 3.70
B+ = 3.30
B = 3.00
B- = 2.70
C+ = 2.30
C = 2.00
C- = 1.70
D+ = 1.30
D = 1.00
F = 0.00
Other failing grades used: E, U, WF. Pass/Fail grades are noted as S (pass) or U (fail).
Other Designations
AP – Advanced Placement credit (College Board)
AU – Audit
CLP – CLEP Examination (College Board)
CR – Credit awarded
FA – Failure due to excessive absences
H – Honors Course
I – Incomplete grade; becomes “F” if not removed during first 4 weeks of the following semester
NG – No Grade P Passing grade, 70+, but no credit due to excessive absences
S – Pass (P/F basis) C- or above
TR – Transfer credit hours U Fail (P/F basis) D+ or below, considered same as “F”
W – Withdrawal grade allowed due to extenuating circumstances
WF – Withdrawn Failing
General Comments
Repeats – May repeat a given course with a final grade counted in cumulative GPA summary. Earlier attempts are “forgiven” but remain on academic record. Identified on the transcript to the extreme right of course as E=exclude or I=include.
Honors for Graduates – Based on all courses, including transfer work
Transfer Work – Transfer course translates into PC course if possible. If no equivalent course, the transfer course is listed as ‘ELEC’ with course title and hours.
School of Pharmacy Grading System
The grading policy for didactic courses, laboratory courses, and advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs) is shown below. Introductory pharmacy practice experiences (IPPEs) and other courses, if designated in the course syllabus, are graded pass/fail.
A = 4.00
A- = 3.75
B+ = 3.50
B = 3.00
B- = 2.75
C+ = 2.50
C = 2.00
D = 1.00
F = 0.00
Pass/Fail grades are noted as S (pass) or U (fail).
Other Designations
I – Incomplete grade; becomes “F” if not removed during first 4 weeks of the following semester
S – Pass (P/F basis) C- or above
U – Fail (P/F basis) considered the same as “F”
W – Withdrawal grade allowed due to extenuating circumstances (must be approved by the Assistant/Associate Dean for Academic Programs)
General Comments
Repeats If a student remediates a course, both the initial course grade and the repeat grade will appear on the transcript and will be used to calculate the GPA.

General Comments
A student receiving a grade of “D” or “F” in any course will be dismissed from the program in which they are enrolled.
