Can you believe you’ll be moving in to your dorm room in less than two months?

Move-In Day is August 18, and it’ll be here before you know it.

We asked current PC students what you should think about bringing for your dorm that you won’t find on the website. Whether you’re moving in to Georgia Hall, Smythe, Clinton, or Belk, check out these five things PC students say they can’t live without:

1. Extra blanket or quilt
You may want to bring an extra blanket or quilt when you pack your other bedding. An extra layer will help keep you warm if you prefer a more moderate temperature, but your roommate likes it to feel like the Arctic. Plus, having another blanket or quilt will come in handy when you’re binging on Netflix, studying outside, or enjoying a picnic on the plaza.

2. Cleaning supplies
Sure, you won’t have anyone asking you to keep your room clean. But that doesn’t mean you can’t (or shouldn’t). Cleaning supplies like disinfecting wipes will keep the science experiments in the labs in Lassiter Hall and not growing in your room.

3. Plastic storage containers
Your room has a dresser for your clothes. But if you’re bringing a lot of things you just can’t do without, you’re gonna need a little extra storage space. Plastic storage containers, like ones with drawers, keep you organized and maximize the space in your room. After all, you should focus on your education, not on keeping track of your stuff, right?

4. Fan
Ahhhh, circulated air! How wonderful it is! Shakespeare probably wrote a sonnet about it. Bring a small fan with you to keep the air circulating in your dorm room. A small fan adds ambient sound to the room to help you focus on your homework or your power nap. Or, of course, it could help muffle the sounds of your roommate’s snores.

5. Pictures you love
You’ll be moving away from loved ones for the first time ever. And you’re going to miss them. Remember to bring pictures of these family members and other pictures you love to help you make this huge transition in your life.

Remember to keep these items in mind if you’ve already started packing. Check out our website for the full list of things to bring and not bring to campus.

Worried you might forget something important for your room? Students in the know say that Dollar Tree is the place to go. CVS, Fred’s, Walgreen’s and Walmart are close by too. And there’s always Amazon, of course. By the way, one of the best things about being in college is getting a notification from the mailroom that you have a package.
