The Generous Heart of a Presbyterian

Merrill-intro

Jack & Raenota Merrill

Raenota Merrill and her late husband, Jack, are being honored for their devotion to the Presbyterian Church and now to Presbyterian College.

Raenota retired in 2010 as a physician’s assistant after a long career in nursing. She and her husband, Jack, a retired electrical engineer with IBM, wished to leave his estate to a small college like PC and did so in conjunction with his longtime membership at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.

Raenota continues to be active at Fort Hill Presbyterian, participating in a prayer shawl ministry, organizing educational events, and working on a grant with Clemson University to partner with the church, books clubs, and a soup kitchen. She has also traveled on several medical missions to Ghana, Asia, and Guatemala.

Her late husband, Jack, was a longtime volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity Store in Seneca and the Central Railway Model and Historical Association. He was also a master gardener and a member of the Keowee Key History Club.

Raenota has three children from her first marriage to the late Gerald Lee Maas, a railroad executive, and two grandchildren.
